On April 5, 2022, I lost my son 

Corey M. Blackwell-Gines to senseless gun violence in the city of St. Louis MO. Corey was my youngest son of two at the age of 19 years old his life was cut short due to the senseless gun violence.  Corey was a very loving, caring outgoing person who loved living life to the fullest, Corey had such a big heart, knowing what caring and generous person my son was, I decided to turn my grief into change.

Building A Legacy in Honor of 

Corey Blackwell-Gines 

Corey's Way of Caring founded in 2023 by Sheleasa Blackwell, a nonprofit   organization started in Saint Louis, MO. I decided to start the foundation in honor of my son Corey Blackwell-Gines who was very committed to giving back.  My family spent countless hours helping at various food banks, donating to families in need , participating in numerous walks such as walks to end Gun Violence, Autism Walk, Suicide Prevention Awareness Walk ,Cancer Walks, throughout the years, also helping with many toy drives. Corey loss his life due to senseless gun violence in the city of St. Louis MO. We will continue to do what my son loved to do.

Our organization is committed to provide sensible solutions to end gun violence and give back to the community . We strive to thrive. With thanks to the helping hands of this amazing community we can do this together !

 Corey's Way of Caring's mission is to put an end to senseless violence by taking steps to address the continuing epidemic of gun violence affecting communities across the world. We do this through promoting positive opportunities to bring awareness to the communities, of the problems. Mental Health, Homelessness, Food Insecurity, Education ,and Employment .
